Dear friend!

I quite often reflect on how to make Theoretical Mechanics more understandable and attractive for future engineers. Experience shows, that frequently an inexperienced engineer cannot see the engineering problem in a theoretical model and in a real situation doesn't notice the abstract model. Not everyone asks himself: “What does the theory say on this occasion?” A theory in its highest level is beyond the comprehension of an average engineer and he usually quiets himself thinking that a pure theorist cannot say anything relevant in a real situation. Nevertheless, a mastering foundation of a theory turns out to be very fruitful for an engineer.

To help teach mechanics is the main problem we would like to achieve.

In the page Practice - Theory you can find examples of applications of simple problems to some practical cases. It is well known from engineering history that mistakes in design lead to severe consequences whereas competent calculations have helped find the way out of complicated situations. Analyses of such events are very useful and instructive.

The section Training helps teach the solving of mechanics problems. For this purpose the teaching programs at Download will be very helpful. Here you can find a list of interesting books on mechanics. More experienced students may test themselves in our Olympiad . Also as a useful entertainment we offer Crosswords and tests .

A curious mind may find some interesting facts at Technique history and modern Technique novelties . On the page News you can familiarize yourself with what is on our site.

Everyone visiting the site may add references and resources on the Internet on mechanics.

We believe, that not only students, but also young professors will find something useful here and interesting for themselves. We hope that your time won't be wasted. We welcome any comments and your suggestions will be thoroughly studied. We invite you to sign our Guest book and take part in our Forum , and in case of the necessity to Contact with founders of “Mechanics forum” and its authors.

In News you can find announcements of new materials.

Map of the site will help you orient yourself in the “Forum” growing tree.

The offered materials are both original and taken from literature. We don't have the possibilities to trace all sources, so all responsibility for references' completeness we place on the material authors.
